Collaborative Projects

Member councils work together to design and deliver regional projects that create shared value, reduce emissions, manage climate risks to councils and strengthen climate resilience across SEQ.

Knowledge Sharing

SEQCRA provides a peer learning network where council staff exchange expertise, insights and practical experience. A regular program of forums, workshops and discussion promotes best practice, builds capacity, and avoids duplication across the region.

Regional Advocacy

SEQCRA provides a mechanism for councils to share regional challenges and opportunities, and a collective voice to address barriers that support councils’ capacity for climate action and resilience.

Our Members' Mission

Our mission is to work regionally and collaboratively to build the capacity of local governments and accelerate climate action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, minimise climate risks and build climate resilience across South East Queensland.

Background

The South East Queensland Climate Resilient Alliance (SEQCRA) was established in April 2024, with support from LGAQ’s Climate Resilient Council’s pilot program, through a shared commitment by member councils to coordinate collaborative, regional climate initiatives.

Regional Coordination

SEQCRA member contributions fund the Alliance Coordinator, who is employed by the Host Council and acts as a shared resource for the region. The Alliance Coordinator manages projects and programs, applies for grants and funding, liaises with members and stakeholders, and administers SEQCRA’s governance.

Governance

SEQCRA is run by its members through a collaborative, regional governance structure. Decision making is collaborative, meetings are regular and administered by Alliance Coordinator.
